There are only so many hours in a day—and so many days in a week—to get everything done. Between demands at home and responsibilities at work, it can feel overwhelming. If you’re struggling to stay on top of everything and feeling stressed, know that you’re far from alone.
Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. We’re here to help.
Here are some time management tips to help you stay productive at work and present at home.
Smart Strategies for Better Time Management
Get Good Sleep
Being tired makes everything harder. Make it a priority to get seven to eight hours of sleep each night to help your body rest, recover, and recharge. Using caffeine to compensate for fatigue can actually increase stress and lead to mistakes and short tempers—which only makes things worse. Well-rested people are more productive, patient, and positive.
Cut Down on Social Media Time
Social media can be a major time sink if you’re not careful. Unless it’s part of your job, try to limit how much time you spend scrolling. During work hours, put your phone away if possible to minimize distractions. At home, keep it out of sight when spending time with family and friends so you can be more present and connected.
Embrace the To-Do List
A daily to-do list can help you prioritize tasks and stay focused. Each morning, write down the key things you want to accomplish at work—and stick to it as much as possible, adjusting as urgent tasks arise. You can do the same at home to tackle personal responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to start.
Eat Good Food
Meal prepping might seem like a lot of work upfront, but it can save you time and energy throughout the week. Having healthy meals and snacks ready to grab from the fridge or pantry means you’ll spend less time cooking (and less money on fast food). Good nutrition fuels better focus, more energy, and less stress overall.
Take Time for Yourself
Everyone needs—and deserves—a break. Skipping breaks can lead to burnout, resentment, and negative attitudes. Even short breaks are powerful: a 10-minute walk, listening to your favorite music, or simply sitting quietly can help you recharge. Taking time for yourself is essential to taking care of your mental and emotional well-being.
